Musical Theatre
The Heidelberg College Department of Communication and Theatre Arts, in conjunction with the Department of Music, announces a new major track within the department – the Theatre with Music Theatre Emphasis track. Students who complete this track can receive either a B.A. or B.S. degree. This major was available beginning the fall of 2006 and requires an audition for admission.
The major is not designed as a pre-professional actor-training program, but focuses on theatre and music skills that can be used by future actors, directors, and teachers. Students in the program complete courses in the traditional theatre major with some adjustments for the music theatre interest, and are provided vocal and other musical skills training from the college’s renowned and NASM-accredited Department of Music. Continued education at the graduate level is recommended for those seeking a professional career or to teach at the college level. Admission will be limited to assure adequate resources and attention to the students selected. A catalog description of this CTA track is available.
