Honors Program

The Heidelberg College faculty believes in challenging students to reach their full potential. “Life of the Mind” is a comprehensive approach toward empowering students to explore their abilities within a supportive community of scholars and learners. The program is comprised of four intellectual areas: the Scholar, the Scientist, the Artist and the Citizen.

Senior Honors Presentations

During their final year, Honors students complete a senior honors project with a faculty mentor of their choice. This project usually derives from a student's major field and individualizes and deepens a student's understanding of a topic of compelling interest in her or his major.  The Spring 2008 Senior Honors Presentations will be held Tuesday, April 22, through Thursday, April 24  in Herbster Chapel.  Please view the schedule, which includes the presenters and their topics, and join us to celebrate the scholarship of these students.

Mission Statement

Heidelberg is committed to affirming values that produce creative, responsible individuals, and challenges all students to reach their full potential as whole persons.

The Faculty of the College has established an Honors Program to support and challenge the College's most outstanding students in the development of intellect and character.

This program, titled "The Life of the Mind," which integrates learning and life experiences, stems from the mission of the College. It features extensive contact with the fundamental values that underpin self-worth and integrity, free inquiry and intellectual rigor, an understanding of other cultures and traditions and a lifelong habit of commitment to the community and concern for social responsibility.
