Why study ITS at Heidelberg?

At Heidelberg we pride ourselves on our ability and willingness to be flexible and work with students to help them design the International Studies program that best meets their individual needs. Students can study for a semester abroad, a year or even longer. Students can take part in a broad range of exciting internships.

Study abroad for at least a semester is an integral part of the ITS major. Our alumni report that learning to live and even thrive in other countries and cultures is the highlight of their college experience. They emerge from the experience with greatly enhanced maturity and confidence. According to a recent ITS graduate, "My study abroad experience helped me become more independent and confident, and to mature much more rapidly."

Students are also encouraged to study in the nation's capital in our Washington Semester Program.

ITS students may also take part in internationally oriented internships with businesses, lobby groups, human rights organizations and various branches of the government. As one ITS graduate noted, "The ITS major gave me the interpersonal skills and knowledge of 'other worlds' that are now so important."

Graduate school opportunities

An ITS major (or minor) can make applications more attractive for MBA programs, as well as graduate programs in the social sciences and humanities.
