Provisional Teaching Licensure

Students interested in teaching German complete requirements in both the Languages and Education Departments to qualify for the State of Ohio’s K-12 provisional teaching licensure. Students should meet early in their first year with the chairpersons of both departments to ensure appropriate planning so that requirements, including a semester abroad, can be met in a timely fashion.

Those who choose this program find that the year abroad greatly increases their confidence in the language as future teachers and provides them with firsthand knowledge of German culture. This experience abroad ensures that our German Education licensure candidates graduate with the strongest possible training in their content area.
