Heidelberg Requirements for a Latin American Studies Minor:

Students must take 15 hours of coursework, including:

1. two of the following courses:

    HIS 251 (Latin American Civilization)
    HIS 252 (Latin American Nations)
    HIS 361 (Maya World)

2. POL 250 (Latin American Politics)

3. one 300-level Spanish course (prerequisite: SPA 202 or equivalent)

4. NDI 340 (Women's Voices in Latin America)

Although not required, it is strongly recommended that students with a Latin American Studies minor participate in a short-term academic experience outside of the United States (of one week or longer, for at least one credit hour). Current College programs providing this kind of opportunity include NDI 345 (Service Learning on the U.S./Mexico Border), BIO 375 (Caribbean Biogeography/Belize) and NDI 120 (Latin American Cultural History).
