Provisional Teaching Licensure
Students interested in teaching Spanish complete requirements in both the Languages and Education Departments to qualify for the State of Ohio’s K-12 provisional teaching licensure. Students should meet early in their first year with the chairpersons of both departments to ensure appropriate planning so that requirements, including a semester abroad, can be met in a timely fashion.
Those who choose this program find that the semester abroad greatly increases their confidence in the language as future teachers and provides them with firsthand knowledge of the cultures of the Spanish-speaking world. This experience abroad, combined with academic preparation in the literature and culture of Spain and Latin America, ensures that our Spanish Heidelberg licensure candidates graduate with the strongest possible training in their content area.
