Sarah's Heidelberg connection started when she was a high school exchange student at Seneca East High School in Attica, Ohio. The Hong Kong native was hosted by Jess and Kendra (Karr) Nelson, Class of 1997. During her exchange year, Sarah visited Heidelberg and quickly fell in love with the campus and its business school offerings where she could study a broad array of business topics and interests.

Sarah was an active member of the Berg Business Club and World Student Organization. Her participation in these two clubs gave her exposure to many local business groups, including the Tiffin Rotary Club and Tiffin Area Chamber of Commerce. As an ambassador of Heidelberg International Business Student, Sarah shared her experience with the Tiffin community through speaking engagements and networking events. In her senior year, Sarah was nominated by the Business Department as the recipient of Business Student of the Year hosted by the Toledo Chapter of the CFA Institute.

Sarah continued her participation at Heidelberg while she was pursuing her MBA. Under the leadership of Dr. Henry Rennie, Sarah was the nominated student representative of the Strategic Planning Council where she represented both undergrad and graduate student bodies in influencing Heidelberg’s strategic development and decisions. In her MBA Thesis Field Study, she worked alongside three other MBA students in studying the viability of a new full-service branch in Findlay, Ohio for the Old Fort Banking Company. Sarah contributes success of the Field Study to the well-rounded curriculum of the Heidelberg Business School, as well as the quality of the Business School Faculty in preparing her to tackle real-world business decisions. Her performance in the Field Study earned her the MBA Student of the Year Award in 2008, where her family, host family and friends celebrated with her in the Seiberling Gymnasium.

Today, Sarah is the Worldwide Manager of Regional Development, as well as the Interim Human Resources Manager of Asia at ERICO International Corporation, a global manufacturing company headquartered in Solon, Ohio. Following her graduation from Heidelberg, Sarah started with ERICO as a Corporate Financial Analyst and was promoted to her current position in two years. In 2011, Sarah accepted a 7-month assignment to Shanghai, China, where she assisted with organizational development and operations in the Asia Region.

Sarah credits her parents, husband, host family and all of her Heidelberg friends for her success. The well-versed curriculum, engaged faculty, endless campus opportunities and friendly fellow students are just some of the fond memories Sarah has for her Alma Mater.
