Dr. Paul Mayhew joined the faculty at Heidelberg University in 2011 as Assistant Professor of Choral Music Education. His teaching responsibilities include courses in music education, music literature, voice, and musicianship. He is the conductor of the Heidelberg University-Community Chorus.
Dr. Mayhew comes to Heidelberg from Northwest Missouri State University where he taught music education, choral conducting, and voice in addition to conducting two choral ensembles.

He recently completed a Ph.D. in Choral Music Education at Florida State University (2010). As a graduate assistant, Dr. Mayhew conducted the Tallahassee Community Chorus, The Florida State University Men’s Chorus, and the Vocal Jazz Ensemble.

Dr. Mayhew has taught choral music in the public schools for 17 years in Arizona and Oregon. He was selected as the 2004-2005 Music Educator of the Year by the Oregon Symphony Association. He received a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of Arizona (1985) and a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from M (2000).After completing his graduate study in Flagstaff, Dr. Mayhew served for two years as a Visiting Professor of Choral Studies at Northern Arizona University, where he conducted the Men's Chorale and the Vocal Jazz Ensemble, taught conducting and supervised student teachers. During his time in Flagstaff, Mr. Mayhew was the Artistic Director of the Children's Chorale of Flagstaff and the Assistant Conductor of the Flagstaff Master Chorale. Dr. Mayhew is a member of the American Choral Director’s Association, the Ohio Music Education Association, and the National Association for Music Education.
