Have you ever thought about becoming a professional musician? Or, are you interested in participating in music while pursuing your degree? We would like to invite all high school students who have an interest in music to join us November 18, 2011, for a unique college and career exploration experience. While a traditional visit provides a snapshot of college, we want to provide you with an opportunity to experience what our music majors experience.
Each high school student who attends our Preview Day on November 18 will be able to participate in a number of workshop sessions in your area of interest. Sing with the Concert Choir, rehearse with the Symphonic Band and learn about our audition process. We will provide lunch for you, your mentor, and your parent(s), courtesy of the Admission Office. This will give you time to ask your mentor questions about teaching, Heidelberg, and discuss what you experienced during the workshops.
Following lunch, you will have the opportunity go to more workshops, take a tour of the campus, visit the bookstore, meet with an Admission Counselor, explore financial aid options, or meet with a professor from another department. The entire day will be built around your needs.
- 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. — Registration/Welcome
- 10:00 a.m. – Noon — Workshop Sessions
- Noon — Lunch (provided by the Office of Admission)
- 1:15 – 2:15 p.m. — Workshop Sessions
- 2:15 p.m. — Leave for home, speak with and Admission counselor, take a campus tour, the choice is yours.
You may register by filling out the online registration form. The registration deadline is Friday, November 4.
What is the cost for the event?
There is no cost for this event other than transportation to and from the campus. We will provide everything that your students need upon their arrival, including lunch.
What is the reservation deadline?
Friday, November 4.
Will there be sessions for parents?
Yes! The registration form allows for parents to participate if they wish; they can attend any of the classes or sessions. We will also offer separate sessions for parents on admissions, financial aid, and other topics of interest.
May I audition as part of Preview Day?
We are happy to audition potential music majors for the Fall of 2012 on Preview Day; please let us know if you would like to take advantage of this early opportunity. Additional opportunities to audition for the Fall of 2012 occur on February 20 and February 25, 2012. Special appointments for auditions are available, subject to faculty availability.

I am a high school band/choral director. May I bring a group of students from my music program?
Yes, we would be happy to welcome you! It would help our efforts to know of your request as soon as possible, so that we can make arrangements to accommodate your needs. We ask that each student from your program fill out a registration form; if you would like to forward all of the forms in one mailing, that would be most helpful.
