Scholarships for Music and Theater Majors

For Music Majors

The School of Music at Heidelberg has a very generous scholarship program, annually awarding more than $100,000 in scholarship aid to students majoring in music. Scholarships are available for students choosing Bachelor of Music degrees in Performance, Music Education, Theory/Composition, and Music Industry. Scholarships are also available for students choosing a music major on a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree. These degrees also allow a second major in a wide variety of fields.

 

 

 

Ambassador Awards

  • Renewable $3,000, $4,000, and $5,000 awards are given in 4 categories:
    • Wind and percussion instruments
    • Voice
    • Keyboard (piano and/or organ)
    • Strings (including guitar)
  • Ambassador awards include all private lessons at no extra tuition cost
    • Free lessons save $3000-$4000 per year compared to other music programs
  • Ambassador award candidates must audition before March 1.

Music Scholarships

  • Renewable awards available up to $2,000
  • Scholarships include all private lessons at no extra tuition cost
    • Free lessons save $3000-$4000 per year compared to other music programs
  • An unlimited number of scholarships are available
  • Scholarship priority given to students who audition by March 1.
  • In addition to music scholarships, music students are eligible for academic scholarships, awards of circumstance, and need-based funding. 
  • All awards are coordinated by the Office of Financial Aid and included in the student's financial aid award. 
  • All students are encouraged to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Auditions for Major Awards

Awards are made based on an audition process. Students who wish to apply for a music talent scholarship must submit the following materials:


For Talented Non-Majors and Music Minors

group ensembleThe Heidelberg School of Music also offers scholarship awards for talented music students who are coming to Heidelberg to study in a different major. Music minors may also apply for these special awards.

Scholarships are offered for participation in the following areas:

  • Ensembles: Participation in one or more of the College’s major ensembles.
  • Piano: Awards are also available for piano accompanying (solo and/or ensemble) or jazz piano.

Award Amounts

  • Award amounts will range from $500 to $1500 per year. Students may demonstrate performance skills in up to two applied areas.
  • Awards are competitive and will be made based on demonstrated talent and the overall needs of the Department of Music at a given time.
