Bachelor of Music: Emphasis in Music Industry
Careers in the Music Industry
Heidelberg's Bachelor of Music with an emphasis in Music Industry degree option offers students an in-depth study of instrumental, keyboard or vocal music combined with a strong background in business.
Graduates of the program may own or manage music-related firms, become artist representatives, work in music merchandising, and serve as arts administrators and arts advocates. Such professional pursuits may lead graduates to careers with recording companies, local music stores, large music corporations, opera companies, museums and state art commissions.
Students in the program benefit from a more intensive study of music than a Bachelor of Art of Bachelor of Science degree would allow, while completing substantial coursework in business. To complement in-class instruction, the senior-year internship requirement allows students to gain real-world experience with such organizations as Tiffin's Ritz Theatre, the Toledo Symphony, area radio stations and other music businesses and art organizations.
The program's combination of music and business coursework and training prepares students for a wide variety of careers in music as well as a variety of graduate studies in music and/or business.
The Heidelberg Advantage: Music Industry
The Heidelberg School of Music has been educating musicians for more than 100 years and is fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM.) Our music faculty members are dedicated teachers as well as established musicians who continue to pursue performance, composition and research opportunities. With a low student-to-faculty ratio, music students at Heidelberg benefit from personal attention and private lessons, which are available for no additional fees. Music scholarships are also offered to complement other forms of financial aid. To see more advantages of music at Heidelberg, visit www.heidelberg.edu/academiclife/depts/music/info/why
