Admission and Eligibility

Students in a classroomFor the most part, admission requirements are dictated by the host institution, the Universität Heidelberg, and not by Heidelberg University in Ohio. To be eligible for admission into the program, you must have obtained at least junior status prior to entering the Universität Heidelberg (or have sophomore standing and strong SAT or ACT scores), a cumulative grade point average of B or better, and at least two years of college or university-level German study or the equivalent.

In the German university system, students enjoy a considerable amount of freedom, but they must also have to be self-motivated. In an atmosphere where 'learning for learning's sake' is of utmost importance, it is expected that AJY students come with a readiness to adjust to the demands of a new and different academic environment.
