Heidelberg University Hosts Fall 2010 NWOCA Workshop

The Role of the Clinical Supervisor in Fostering the Development of Professional Identity in Young Counselors.

Burns, M.Ed.The presenters will discuss the increasingly important issue of professional identity and the critical role that clinical supervisors can play in fostering the ongoing development of professional identity among the counselors and counselors-in-training they supervised. This discussion will be guided by results of a recent survey of Ohio professional counselors and will include a review of critical ethical and legal issues in counseling supervision.

Objectives:

  • Discuss current issues in professional identity in the counseling field.
  • Be familiar with the current state of practice among Ohio clinical supervisors and the implications for practice.
  • Discuss at least three ways that clinical supervisors can foster the development of professional identity among their counselors.

The registration table opens at 8.30 a.m. The presentation will run from 9.30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Lunch will be provided. Three counseling CEU?s will be offered to members registering at the professional LEVEL ONLY.
