International Programs
Heidelberg’s global and international mission is to help students develop an understanding of their own and other cultures; to understand contemporary issues from ethical, social, economic, scientific and political perspectives; and to develop a sense of community and commitment to the community.
Our commitment to experiential education is an important component of our study abroad program, which offers students myriad opportunities for learning and engagement in
another culture. Students take classes at excellent international universities, where they interact with students from all over the world, immerse themselves in foreign language study, and participate in study trips and excursions. They return to campus more confident, with broadened worldviews and meaningful stories and photos to share with friends and family. They also learn what it means to be a thoughtful citizen of the world in an increasingly global society.
The University's’s recognized American Junior Year at Heidelberg, Germany program is particularly special—Heidelberg graduates that participated in this program often tell us that they value and draw on the cultural awareness and independence they gained during their time in Germany.
