Distinctive Programs
Heidelberg provides students with unique research opportunities through the Center for Historic & Military Archaeology and the National Center for Water Quality Research.
Students participate in archaeological “digs” through The Center for Historic and Military Archaeology. They learn to classify and catalog items found at historic battlefields. One of the major research projects for the Center involves the Civil War prison for Confederate officers on Johnson’s Island near Lake Erie.
The National Center for Water Quality Research provides students with opportunities to monitor water samples from the streams and tributaries leading in to Lake Erie and the Ohio River. This research facility has been in operation on the Heidelberg campus since 1969.
Students have the opportunity to conduct individual and group research projects under the direction of the Heidelberg faculty. Students are encouraged to participate in research and each year they present the results of their work at the Heidelberg Student Research Conference. Often students travel to professional regional and national conferences with faculty members to share their findings. Special funds are available on campus to help support the student research projects.
The Heidelberg Academic and Soccer Academy (HASA) in Liege, Belgium is an exciting international experience for students who love the game of soccer! At the Academy, students seek a professional playing contract with the Royal Racing Football Club, Montegnee, in Liege, while taking classes in the business administration or sports management major - classes fully acrediated through Heidelberg College!
The Women's Professional Development Program provides an opportunity for students to exchange ideas and connect with women who have distinguished themselves in business and the community. The purpose of this program is to join women leaders of today and tomorrow to learn skills that will enhance future success both personally and professionally. The program is a springboard for future leadership events in the Professional Development Program.
