First Year Experience

Heidelberg's First-Year Experience (FYE) provides first-year students with the opportunity to develop their critical thinking, writing, and reading abilities, and to engage in the academic life of the College.  The First Year Seminar courses are not introductions to the disciplines, but are explorations of an idea, topic, or event. Seminar faculty develop special topics courses that introduce students to the critical thinking and writing skills required in college.  Seminars are intended to help students find and develop a voice through writing, speaking, analytical reading, discussion, and engagement in critical thinking.
