Appeals Process
If the student feels that the response by the Disability Identification Team is inadequate or disagrees with a denial of accommodations, the student may appeal this decision to the Heidelberg College Dean of Students. An appeal should be in writing and submitted to the Office of the Dean of Students within two weeks of the date of receiving the decision. The appeal must be signed by the student and must state the reasons for the appeal clearly. The Dean of Students will provide a written response to the student indicating the action that will be taken on the appeal.
Students who believe their rights have been violated in regards to their disability may pursue further legal remedies outside of Heidelberg College. Students may consult their own attorneys. Additional information is available from the United States Department of Education Office of Civil Rights, www.ed.gov/ocr; ocr@ed.gov; 1-800-421-3481; or 1-877-521-2172.
