Admission Policy

An admission decision will be made when the Office of Admission receives the following documents:
  • A completed Heidelberg University International Application for Admission by June 15  for fall admission, October 15 for spring admission.  Apply Online.
  • Official academic records of secondary school work in English and transcripts from institutions of higher education attended.
  • An official copy of TOEFL or IELTS scores. The Heidelberg University institutional code is 1292.  Recommended minimum TOEFL score for admission is 550 (paper-based) or 213 (computer-based) or 79-80 (iBT). TOEFL scores are not required from individuals in which English was the language of instruction. Recommended minimum for IELTS is 6.5. If you do not have a TOEFL or IELTS score, your application will be considered for the Heidelberg English Language Institute (HELI). Upon arrival on campus, you will be given an in-house TOEFL test. Your score on the test will determine if you need additional English language courses before beginning a degree seeking program. Learn more about Heidelberg English Language Institute.
  • Evidence of financial support. U.S. visa regulations require students to submit documented evidence of the amount of financial support that will be available from personal resources as well as any additional resources. Students or their sponsors must submit the following statement to Heidelberg, written on bank stationery with the official seal: "We hereby verify that (insert parent or sponsor's name) has (insert figure in U.S. Dollars) in financial resources sufficient to pay for (insert number of years) of study at Heidelberg University."
  • Transfer Students who have completed post-secondary work at another University must complete a WES Evaluation.
