Tom is a recent Communication and Theatre Arts graduate from Heidelberg University. He was a first generation college student from Norwalk, Ohio who came to Heidelberg looking for an educational experience, not just a degree. Tom found that he was able to advance himself academically, as well as personally, while staying involved in a variety of activities including athletics, theatre, Greek life, and WHEI campus radio. He enjoys working with students and hopes that he can help you understand why becoming a Student Prince is a great decision.

Associate Director for International and Graduate Admissions

Dr. Cross is passionate about students’ development and success. Her extensive international experience, both as a lifelong learner and educator, has allowed her to become very sensitive to the needs of international undergraduate and graduate students in an American context. Her extensive teaching in the United States also gives her a deep understanding of American students of all ages. She is eager to welcome more and more students at Heidelberg University. Besides helping students, Dr. Cross loves nature as expressed in science and art.

Harry Gao Harry Gao

Dr. Harry Gao is a native of Shenyang, Liaoning Province, China and came to the U.S. more than two decades ago to study education. He received a B.A. in English from Liaoning Normal University, an M.Ed. from Texas A&M University, and a Ph.D in Curriculum and Instruction from Baylor University. Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Adam is a first generation college student. He attended Heidelberg University in the Fall of 2008 where he majored in English Literature. Because of his involvement in varsity football, Greek life, and several other organizations on Heidelberg's campus, he believes that his college experience was well-rounded. Helping others to acknowledge their self-worth is Adam's aspiration in life; therefore "Help him, help you!"

Melissa Nye Melissa Nye
Graduate and International Admission Coordinator

In the summer of 2013, Melissa moved to the Office of Admissions under Associate Director, Cinzia Cross to focus on coordinating admissions for graduate and international students. She is continuously striving to improve the graduate and international experience. She is dedicated to helping applicants with any questions or issues they might have while being admitted to and completing their program.

Growing up in New Riegel, Ohio she attended Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio obtaining a Bachelors of Arts degree in Management of Dance and Art. She is currently working on her Master of Arts in Education degree through Heidelberg and advises Heidelberg's Dance team. In her free time, she substitutes, helps out, and dances with In Motion Dance Studio and freelances art and interior decorating. She is a member of the Tiffin Art Guild (TAG), through which she displays and sells artwork at the gallery or at one of the many events TAG holds and has taught art classes for TAG and the Tiffin Mercy Cancer Center.

Sue Stine Rife Sue Stine Rife
Senior Associate Director of Admissions

Recruitment Territory: Transfer, Adult, Dual Admission, PSEO, Readmit and Transient students as well as all incoming January students 

Sue has been at Heidelberg for 30 years and has a BS in Business Administration and Psychology and an MA degree. She works with transfer, adult, dual enrollment, readmit, PSEO, and transient students. Sue is also responsible for articulation agreements with community colleges. She enjoys working with students to make the transfer and admission process as easy as possible. Her favorite thing about Heidelberg is the people - "It's like family here."
