Heidelberg students, alumni and the campus community heard some valuable lessons about how to successfully manage a business enterprise from a high-powered trifecta of keynote speakers and a group of alumni presenters during Strategies for Success: Planning, Marketing and Growing a Business held on campus April 25-26.
Keynote speakers John Q. Adams, ’58, president and CEO of JQ Enterprises; Aris Kaplanis, ’74, president and CEO of Teranet Inc.; and John E. Kelley, former president, CEO and chairman of McDATA Corp., energized the conference with passionate presentations about focused marketing, globalization and business ethics, respectively. A total of 22 alumni returned to campus to give presentations on such topics as technology, globalization, investing and financial planning, the insurance, banking and pharmaceutical industries, business communication and total quality management.
The Office of Alumni Relations organized the conference to help build momentum for Heidelberg’s planned renovation of Laird Hall, which will become a state-of-the-art facility for the Business Department. Discussions are ongoing about ways to enhance the business curriculum so that it best meets the needs of students of the 21st century.
