Weekly Athletics Preview

Well played, Student Princes!  

Heidelberg's student-athletes finished last week 8-2-1.  Men's cross country won their first meet in two years and women's soccer won their first game of the season.  The men's soccer team is over .500, the volleyball team is 2-0 in the OAC and the football team continues to roll. 

The first home football game is on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. 

Saturday will be a busy day on campus.  In addition to the festivities of Parent and Family Weekend and Faculty Appreciation Day, Greek Sing will be held in the evening, with the proceeds going to FACT (Financial Assistance for Cancer Treatment) of Seneca County.  

Heidelberg baseball is prepping for their annual golf outing, to be held on October 6

Volleyball – September 28, October 3

Marian Bevington notched her 1,200th career kill in a 3-1 win against Muskingum.   The team, ranked #23, looks to improve to 2-0 in the OAC on Friday night when Marietta comes to town.  A non-conference match against Bluffton on October 3 will be a good test for the team.

Football – September 29

The high-powered offense broke several records and miserly defense did not allow the Wilmington offense to score points in a 56-2 win over the Quakers.  The Pioneers of Marietta College travel to Mayer Field for Week 4 of the 2012 football season.  Cartel Brooks and Dan Kilger were named OAC Players of the Week for Offense and Special Teams.

Men's & Women's Cross Country - September 29

The men took the title at the Otterbein Invitational.  For the women, Bobbi Custer set a personal record, despite wet course conditions.   How wet?  Check out the team picture.   The teams will run in the All-Ohio Championships, hosted by Cedarville.  Live video will be available.

Men's Soccer - September 29 and October 2

In their final non-conference matchers, the men's soccer team defeated a pair of Pennsylvania schools.  St. Vincent went down 5-0 and Grove City fell 2-1.  OAC play starts in Marietta on Saturday, and continues in Tiffin against Wilmington on Tuesday.

Women's Golf - September 29-30

After hosting the Heidelberg Women's Invitational last weekend, the team travels to the Otterbein Invitational.  Full Schedule & Results   Roster

Women's Soccer – September 29, October 3

The women's soccer team went undefeated last week.  They beat Bethany 2-1 and tied Hiram 0-0.  OAC play starts up this week, at Marietta on Saturday and home against Wilmington on Wednesday.

Men's Golf - September 30

The men's golf will head to Tannenhauf Golf Course, the home course of the University of Mount Union.
