Mascot Graphic Standards
Purpose of these Standards
Effective Fall 2008, Heidelberg will introduce an updated Student Prince mascot image designed to better represent Heidelberg athletic programs. A distinctive athletic mascot is critical in helping Heidelberg build brand recognition and effectively represent all athletic teams and participants.
Working with a professional marketing firm, careful consideration was invested in the creation of these new logos, with input from athletic staff, players, alumni and administrators. This Graphic Standards Manual is designed to assist everyone in proper usage of the new athletic marks. All marks are property of Heidelberg and it is necessary that they be used properly. These rules apply to anyone using a Heidelberg mark, both internally and externally. If you have questions regarding the athletic logos, please contact the Office of Communication and Marketing.
The Office of Communication and Marketing is charged with monitoring all institutional visual identity projects and guiding all departments in proper implementation. Any questions of usage or style unaddressed by this manual are subject to review and approval by the Office of Communication and Marketing.
Thank you for your cooperation and assistance.

The “Heidelberg College” logo is often seen printed in this red, or reversed out on a solid red background.

Athletic Logos
The logos available here are suitable for printing of internal publications, and are available in JPEG format. They should be used no larger than the size provided; enlarging the logos beyond this size causes distortion and leads to poor quality in output. If you need other sizes or file formats, please contact the Office of Communication & Marketing. Logos must not be altered in any way. The Student Prince, the Berg and other variations of these logos should only be used to promote Heidelberg and should not represent the college in a negative way.
The Student Prince
To better represent the competitive nature of athletics, the Student Prince was redesigned to appear fierce and competitive. Careful consideration was given while designing the new image, from the angle of the head to the flow of the cape and position of the sword and shield. Custom lettering was developed for the logotype, which is carried throughout all variations.
Heidelberg Athletics Logotypes
As an alternative to using the Student Prince, the following logotypes have been redesigned to accompany the new visual identity of the Student Prince. All Heidelberg athletic logos are consistent and help to convey a unified brand, and have been created from a custom font designed for Heidelberg. These logotypes can be generic for all athletics or sport specific.
Custom Logos
It is necessary for some departments to have a distinctive look and in these cases, custom logos may be used to enhance a publication. A customized logo can never be used to replace approved graphics of Heidelberg, only in addition to. To have a custom logo or graphic developed for your department, please contact the Office of Communication & Marketing.
