Fostoria, Ohio - On a picturesque summer afternoon, the Heidelberg University Alumni 'H' Association hosted its ninth annual Back the Berg Golf Outing. Fourteen foursomes of golfers gathered at Indianbrook Golf Club on July 27 in support of Heidelberg University’s student-athletes.
Two groups carded a 14 under par 58, but Dale Chorba Sr., Dale Chorba Jr., Gregg Mossing and Shane Ash were declared the winners, based on the USGA scorecard tie breaking method. Greg Lehrer, Steve Maple, Adam Smith and Mark Miller were the runners-up.
Pat Herron won the closest to the hole contest, while Dean Bogner won the long putt contest. Smith won the long drive contest.
"The Back the Berg Golf Outing is a great way to start the momentum toward a new academic year," said Matt Palm, Director of Athletics. "We thank everyone that supports the 'H' Association and the golf outing. It means so much to our student-athletes."
Back the Berg and 'H' Association dues are the main fundraising to add to the student athletic experience. The funds are used to help provide special trips, new equipment and championship rings.
