Holt Picks Up OAC Weekly Award

Austintown, Ohio – May 3, 2010 – Freshman Ethan Holt (Galion, Ohio / West Holmes) of the Heidelberg University baseball team has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for the week of May 3, 2010. It is Holt’s first honor of his career and he is the third ’Berg pitcher to pick up the weekly honor this season.

Last week Holt helped to get the Berg on the winning track picking up a 5-1 victory in game one versus John Carroll University. Holt got the start on Tuesday and threw a complete-game, five-hitter. He struck out a career-best eight and he did not walk a batter, while giving up just one earned run.

For the year Holt leads the pitching staff with a 2.18 earned run average and a 7-1 record. He also leads the way with 44 strike outs. He has made 10 appearances, getting the starting nod on seven occasions.

Heidelberg is ranked fourth in the nation according to D3baseball.com and boasts an overall record of 30-6. The Berg sits in first place in the OAC standings at 11-3. Last week the Berg eclipsed the 30-win plateau for the third straight year and sixth time overall.
