'Berg Baseball Remains Atop National Poll

Tiffin, Ohio – March 1, 2010 – The Heidelberg University baseball team, under the guidance of 12th-year head coach Matt Palm, remained atop the national poll released by D3Baseball.com this afternoon, March 1.

Today marks the first poll of the 2011 season and Heidelberg received 18 of a possible 25 first-place votes. The poll is voted on by a panel of 25 coaches, Sports Information Directors and media members from across the country, and is published weekly. In the preseason poll Heidelberg stood first with 19 first-place votes.

Heidelberg is scheduled to open its season March 6 against Mount St. Joseph at the Snowbird Classic in Port Charlotte, Fla. While in the Sunshine State the Berg will play 10 contests and included on the list is Carthage College and Plattsburgh State University of New York, both of which received votes this week in the national poll.

No. 8 ranked Marietta College and no. 19 the College of Wooster is on Heidelberg’s schedule when it returns north to Ohio.
