Austintown, Ohio - March 15, 2011 - Senior second baseman Gar Keen (Sparta, Ohio / Highland) of the Heidelberg University baseball team has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week the league office announced Tuesday morning.
Keen has helped lead the top-ranked 'Berg to its best start in program history at 10-0. Heidelberg posted its 10 wins during its annual spring break trip to the Snowbird Classic in Port Charlotte, Fla.
At the plate, Keen is batting .425 with 17 hits in 40 at bats. He has recorded six doubles, while knocking in 14 runs. Keen has also showed patience in the batters box, registering five walks. In the field Keen is equally impressive, boasting a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in 48 chances. He has assisted in turning nine double plays.
