Hallett Announces 2009 Schedule

Tiffin, Ohio - April 29, 2009 - The Heidelberg University football team and head coach Mike Hallett have announced the release of its 2009 schedule. Its 2009 slate consists of 10 games, with five scheduled to be played at Frost-Kalnow Stadium, the home of ’Berg football.

Heidelberg opens up with four of its first five on the road starting at Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pa. (Sept. 5). In 2008 the Berg topped the Titans 62-27, marking the ninth most points scored in a single game.

Following a bye week, Ohio Athletic Conference action kicks off at Capital University (Sept. 19) followed by Heidelberg’s home opener. The Berg will host John Carroll University under the lights in Tiffin, Sept. 26.

Its home stint is short lived as the Berg hits the road for two-straight beginning at Otterbein College (Oct. 3) followed by a game at Ohio Northern University (Oct. 10).

The year concludes with four of its last five at home. Heidelberg begins its second half of its schedule with the defending national champions and OAC champions Mount Union College Oct. 17.

Baldwin-Wallace College visits the Berg Oct. 24 and the contest will be aired tape delay on SportsTime Ohio. Last year, Heidelberg traveled to Berea and put together a come-from behind victory in overtime.

Its final road trip takes the Berg to Wilmington College (Oct. 31) and the year concludes with two-straight at home in the month of November. November begins with Marietta College (Nov. 7). Heidelberg will look to win its second-straight game against the Pioneers, after posting a dramatic come from behind 45-42 victory in 2008.

The year ends with a televised game with Muskingum College Nov. 14. The Muskingum game will also be aired on tape delay on SportsTime Ohio and will serve as senior recognition day.

Hallett is set to embark on his third season at the Berg and will look to build off a 4-6 overall record and a 3-7 OAC mark. Heidelberg has momentum carrying over from a season ago, as the Berg closed out the year winning three of its last four games, all of which came on its last possession.

In 2009, Heidelberg returns five all-conference honorees including junior quarterback Andrew Miller (Dalton, Ohio / Dalton), senior defensive tackle Matt Grieves (Huron, Ohio / Huron), senior tailback Jemar Lewis (Bedford Heights, Ohio / Bedford), junior placekicker Jesse Hawkins (Georgetown, Ky. / Scott County) and junior linebacker Vaughn Klein (Galloway, Ohio / Central Crossing).
