Austintown, Ohio – November 2, 2009 – Senior running back Jemar Lewis (Bedford Heights, Ohio / Bedford) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 2, 2009. He shares the honor with Andrew Keller of Marietta College. Lewis’ honor is the first offensive player of the week for the Berg in 2009, but he joins defensive honorees Justin Dawson (Westminster, Calif. / Golden West JC) and Dewayne Lindsey (Dayton, Ohio / Meadowdale), as well as special teams selection Matt Wilde (Norwalk, Ohio / Norwalk St. Paul).
In a 17-14 victory at Wilmington College on Saturday, Lewis registered his third-straight 100-yard rushing game. In 27 attempts he had a career-high 168 yards and scored Heidelberg’s two touchdowns in the game.
For the year, Lewis leads the team with 588 yards in 118 attempts. He also sits atop the team with six touchdowns and with 36 points scored.
Heidelberg has won two-straight contests and stand at 3-5 overall and 2-5 in the OAC. The year concludes with two-consecutive in Tiffin. Heidelberg’s final two games of 2009 will be played at Mayer Field, on the campus of Heidelberg. Its Nov. 7 game with Marietta and its Nov. 14 game with Muskingum University will mark the first games played on campus in 64 years.
