Woods Runs Away with OAC Weekly Honor

Austintown, Ohio – October 25, 2010 – Freshman running back Germany Woods (Cleveland, Ohio / St. Edwards) rushed into the Heidelberg University record book over the weekend and in turn was tabbed the Ohio Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the week of October 25, 2010 for his efforts. It is the first collegiate honor for Woods and he joins senior quarterback Andrew Miller (Dalton, Ohio / Dalton) as 2010 selections.

On Saturday, Woods helped the Berg to a 49-25 victory over Marietta College at Mayer Field, on the campus of Heidelberg. In 21 carries, the freshman recorded his first collegiate 100-yard game. He not only overtook the 100-yard barrier, but he doubled up his effort for 231 yards. In the end he ran for a career-best four touchdowns as well.

Woods’ four rushing touchdowns tied the single game record at Heidelberg. He now shares the record with Paul Miletti, Jason Brown, Paul Yackey and Jeff Brock. The record was last tied in 1999 by Brock.
