Heidelberg Picked fifth by Coaches at OAC Media Day

Canton, Ohio – Heidelberg University football team was predicted to finish fifth overall by the coaches in the Ohio Athletic Conference this season. The yearly OAC Media Day was held in Canton, Ohio at the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Heidelberg earned 47 votes from the coaches to put them in the fifth place slot. The media voted the Berg into seventh with a total of 109 votes. Fifth-year Head Coach Mike Hallett and the student princes are coming off a 5-5 (4-5 OAC) finish after the 2010 regular season. The Berg returns 16 starters from last year.

The defending OAC champions, University of Mount Union Purple Raiders, took the first place nod in both the coaches and media poll. Following the Purple Raiders in both polls were Ohio Northern University, Baldwin-Wallace College and Otterbein University.

Representing the Berg Tuesday at the podium was senior, three-year letter winner, Derrick Arbogast (Tiffin, Ohio / Calvert). Argbogast was highly decorated after the 2010 season earning All-OAC Honorable Mention and Academic All-OAC honors.

Sports Time Ohio has packaged a preview show for the upcoming 2011 OAC Football season which will air at three different time slots on their respective channel. The air dates are as follows:

Heidelberg will open their 2011 season on home turf at Mayer Field on Sept. 3 against Alma College with kickoff slated for 1:30 pm.
