Baseball Lands 10 on All-OAC List; Palm Named Coach of the Year.jpg)
The 2008 Ohio Athletic Conference Champion Heidelberg College baseball team placed a league-high 10 players on the All-OAC list for the 2008 campaign, as well as ninth-year head coach Matt Palm was tabbed the Don Schaly Coach of the Year.
Earning a spot on the first team was freshman second baseman Gar Keen (Fredericktown, Ohio / Highland), freshmen short stop Jason Lash (Strongsville, Ohio / Strongsville), junior center fielder Jeremy Wentworth (Johnstown, Ohio / St. Charles) and senior right handed pitcher Steve Calevro (Perrysburg, Ohio / Perrysburg). Second team accolades go to junior left fielder Matt Grassley (Grosse Point Woods, Mich. / Grosse Pointe North), junior left handed pitcher David Paddock (Westerville, Ohio / North) and senior right handed pitcher Andrew McFarland (Mansfield, Ohio / Madison), while sophomore catcher Steve Decker (Maumee, Ohio / Springfield), freshmen left handed pitcher Jake Gossman (Westerville, Ohio / South) and freshmen right handed pitcher Andy Lowe (Fort Wayne, Ind. / Carroll) garnered honorable mention honors ... Heidelberg Seeded No. 1 in Mideast Regional
The 54 team field for the 2008 NCAA Division III Baseball Championships was announced early this morning and nationally-ranked Heidelberg College, under the guidance of ninth-year head coach Matt Palm, earned the No. 1 seed in the Mideast Regional hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terra Haute, Ind. Regional play begins Wednesday, May 14th and runs through Sunday, May 18.
Heidelberg (37-8) will face No. 6 seeded Transylvania (31-12) in game one at Rose-Hulman on May 14. First pitch is slated for noon.
Aside from no. 1 seeded Heidelberg and No. 6 Transylvania the Mideast Regional consists of No. 2 Wooster (34-9), No. 3 Calvin (32-8), No. 4 Rose-Hulman (31-13) and No. 5 Adrian (30-10) ... Complete Story
