The Berg Returnd From Berea 1-1

The Heidelberg College baseball team split a pair of Ohio Athletic Conference games at Baldwin-Wallace College today. Heidelberg put together a come from behind 7-6 victory in game one, but fell 10-7 in game two. With the split Heidelberg owns an overall record of 24-12 and an 11-5 OAC record, while B-W stands at 15-18 overall and 8-8 in league action.

In game one, Heidelberg overcame a 5-2 deficit with five runs in the sixth inning off of four hits and a Baldwin-Wallace error to take control of the game. Knocking in runs in the five-inning fifth was L.B. Emrhein (Seven Hills, Ohio / Padua Franciscan), Jeremy Wentworth (Johnstown, Ohio / St. Charles) and Matt Decker (Maumee, Ohio / Springfield), while Alex Rutter (Bowling Green, Ohio / Bowling Green) scored on a wild pitch and Decker rounded the bases and scored on a passed ball.

Teaming up to gain the victory was starter Steve Calevro (Perrysburg, Ohio / Perrysburg) with 5.1 innings of work. Calevro game up nine hits and six runs, five earned, while striking out four to earn the win. Calevro improves his season record to 6-0. Justin Ocheltree (Bellville, Ohio / Clearfork) pitched a third of an inning and senior Dan Machovina (Elyria, Ohio / Midview) pitched the final 1.1 innings to earn his fourth save of the year. Machovina gave up just one hit.

Leading the way at the plate was Decker, Matt Hille (Fort Wayne, Ind. / Homestead) and Biagio Boytim (Brunswick, Ohio / Brunswick) with two hits apiece. Rutter and Hille each scored two runs.

In the night cap, Heidelberg and B-W exchanged two runs apiece in the first inning and three runs each in the fifth inning, but Baldwin-Wallace outscored the Berg 5-2 through inning two through four to earn the split.

Decker and Rutter each finished with three hits and two RBI in game two to lead the way for Heidelberg. Also recording multiple hits with two was Jack Bault (Randolph, Ohio / Waterloo). Decker also scored three times as well as Wentworth.
