Thomas Throws Three-Hit Shutout

Sophomore right-hander Everett Thomas (Evansville, Ohio / Harrison) threw a three-hit shutout to help lead the Heidelberg College baseball team to a 3-0 win over Fontbonne University in the Port Charlotte Invitational in Port Charlotte, Fla. The win improves Heidelberg to 5-2 on the year. The Berg has four games remaining in its trip South.

Thomas went a complete game, nine innings, and struck out a career-high seven batters. Fontbonne only had three runners in scoring position on the day, with none ever reaching third base. The win improves Thomas to 2-0 on the year.

Heidelberg finished the game with eight hits led by a 3-for-3 showing from freshman second baseman Gar Keen (Fredericktown, Ohio / Highland). Keen also scored once and knocked in a run. Jeremy Wentworth (Johnstown, Ohio / St. Charles) also picked up multiple hits with two.
