Peaceful Valley gets a "Split" Face Lift
Peaceful Valley, the home of the Heidelberg College baseball team, continues to move up in the ranks of premier Division III baseball facilities. Just recently, after a weekend of intense labor the backstop experienced a complete renovation. The previous chain link fencing was removed and replaced with a 3 ½ inch split face block wall. Phase two of the backstop project will include the installation of four metal 25 foot poles that will support netting for the backstop. In the end, the backstop will be accompanied with an improved grandstand area.
The backstop improvement is the second addition to Peaceful Valley over the course of the last year. In the fall of 2006, a 42 x 80 feet long structure was built to house two batting cages. The batting cage facility is located behind the home, third base dugout and features two batting cages on zip lines that offer enough room for not only hitters, but the Berg pitching staff to throw bullpens. The facility are lined with astro turf flooring to help with infield practice during weather threatening days.
