Daniel Hartsel is in his third season as an assistant coach of the Heidelberg men's basketball team. Hartsel will help oversee player development, community support, and recruiting. Hartsel is also in his second year as the head coach of the Heidelberg men's golf team.
Prior to arriving at Heidelberg, Hartsel was the boy's varsity basketball coach and athletic director at Vanlue High School in Vanlue, Ohio. While there, Hartsel took the program to the district finals for the first time since 1971. Hartsel has also coached at North Baltimore, Hopewell-Loudon, and Bettsville High Schools, totaling over 14 years experience.
Hartsel currently resides in Fostoria, Ohio with his wife, Kellie, and daughter, Shea. He is pursuing a degree in middle childhood education at the Berg.
