Coming back for his third season as an assistant coach for the Heidelberg’s men’s basketball team is Michael Hunter Jr. He will continue to work with the post position.
Hunter played for Ohio Northern University’s men’s basketball team from 2005-2007 and started every game his junior and senior year. In both his senior and junior year at ONU, he was at least second on the team in total rebounds and blocks. After finishing 21-6 overall with a second place finish in the Ohio Athletic Conference during Hunter’s junior year, ONU went 19-6 for the season which was good for a third place tie in the OAC in his senior campaign.
After his playing career, Hunter became the men’s basketball manager where he was responsible for overseeing practices and being the point of contact for the team’s travel plans. A year later, he was promoted to student assistant with ONU’s men’s basketball team where he worked with post players and was delegated for away games duties
Hunter is native of Columbus, Ohio and attended Whetstone High School where he earned all-conference and all-district honors on Whetstone’s basketball team.
From ONU, Hunter earned a bachelor’s degree in sports management with an option of coaching certification. He is currently pursuing his master’s in education at Heidelberg.
