Tiffin, Ohio – February 4, 2010 – Senior guard Josh Calver (Shelby, Ohio / Shelby), a member of the Heidelberg University men’s basketball team, has been voted on the 2010 ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District IV first team. With the nod on the first team, Calver is now placed on the ballot for ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America honors.
Heidelberg is a member of District IV which consists of Division II, III and NAIA schools located in the states of Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee.
To be nominated for the all-district team the student-athlete must have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point and in at least their sophomore year at the institution and be a starter or key reserve. The all-district teams are voted on by sports information directors that are members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Calver is majoring in accounting and sports management, while carrying a 3.81 grade point average. On the court, Calver leads the team with 242 points (12.1 ppg.), 28 three-point made field goals, and has dished out a team-high 64 assists. On the defensive side, Calver is tied for second on the team with 24 steals.
