Crusaders Top Heidelberg

Tiffin, Ohio – February 5, 2011 - The Heidelberg University men’s basketball team fell short to Capital University in an Ohio Athletic Conference match at Seiberling Gymnasium today with a score of 81-59. The Berg falls to 10-11 overall and 8-6 in the OAC, while the Crusaders improve to 15-6 overall and 10-4 in league play.

Right from the tip, Capital took charge with a three pointer from Spencer Niekamp. Kelly Winter earned the assist. The Crusader would stay ahead of the Berg for the duration of the game.

Offensively for the Berg, senior Kyle Tuley (Berea, Ohio / Berea) scored 14 points. Following Tuley was sophomore Dane Givner (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Harvest Preparatory) with eight points to go along with a team-high seven boards.

Chipping in with seven points apiece was sophomore Wes Paramore (Painesville, Ohio / Harvey) and junior Zane Wildermuth (Botkins, Ohio / Botkins).

DJ Frazier led three in double figures for Capital. Frazier scored 18 points, while Scott Robertson and Spencer Niekamp earned 14 and 12 points, respectively.

For the game, Heidelberg connected on 21-of-65 shots from the floor (32.3%), while the Crusaders made 28-of-57 attempts (49.1%).  On the glass, Heidelberg held a slim 44-43 advantage.

The Berg looks to get back in the win column on Wednesday (Feb. 9) as it hosts Ohio Northern University at 7:30 p.m. on Senior Day.
