’Berg Standout Ron Higgins Added To Men’s Basketball Coaching Staff
Sixth-year head coach and interim Athletic Director Duane Sheldon of the Heidelberg College men’s basketball team has named Ron Higgins as an assistant coach. Higgins was a center for the Berg where he became the 24th player in Heidelberg history to record 1,000 points, currently standing at number 20 on the list with 1,033.
“We are excited to keep Ron in our basketball family. Playing the last four years and being a two-time captain for us should make for a good transition. He is a great role model for our young men in the program,” Sheldon stated.
Higgins, a 2007 Heidelberg graduate, was named to the All-Ohio Athletic Conference Honorable Mention Team and the Academic All-OAC Team for the 2004-05 season. He also holds the record for highest career field goal percentage at the Berg with .536.
Higgins is a native of Vermillion, Ohio and attended Firelands High School where he earned all-Ohio, all-district and all-county honors.
