Kinn and Calver Pick Up Postseason Honors

The Heidelberg University men’s basketball team had two representatives on the 2009 Ohio Athletic Conference men’s basketball team. Earning a nod on the honorable mention list was junior forward Travis Kinn (Alvada, Ohio / New Riegel) and junior guard Josh Calver (Shelby, Ohio / Shelby).

Picking up his first postseason honor is Kinn. Kinn led the team in scoring (16.0 ppg), rebounding (7.9 rpg), field goal percentage (.517), free throw percentage at (.842) and in blocks with 16. He also stood third on the team with 24 steals. For the year he scored in double figures in 24 games, including posting a career-best 27 points in an overtime win at Baldwin-Wallace College. He recorded a career-best seven double-doubles.

Calver has earned his first selection to the all-league team and it follows a season that saw the point guard dish out a team-leading 91 assists, while scoring 11.2 points a game, good enough for fourth on the team. He was second with 30 steals and third in free throw shooting at .815. For the year, Calver reached double figures in the scoring column on 18 occasions and tied his career-high of 17 three times.

Heidelberg, under the guidance of first-year head coach Anthony Gholson, finished the year at 8-18 overall and 5-13 in the OAC. The Berg made its 48th appearance, including its third straight, in the OAC Tournament.
