Heidelberg Men's & Women's Cross Country Teams Place Seventh, 14th at OWU Invitational

POWELL, Ohio—The Heidelberg University men’s and women’s cross country teams competed today at the Ohio Wesleyan Invite at Liberty Park in Powell, Ohio. The men finished seventh among 17 teams and the women came in 14th place in the 18-team field.

 

In the men’s eight-kilometer race, senior John Gogle (Sunbury/Big Walnut) topped all Student Princes with a 16th-place finish in a time of 27:02.5. He was followed by senior Jordan Karnes (Edgerton) (27:27.8) in 27th place and sophomore David Kindall (Sullivan/Black River) (27:50.4) in 41st place.

 

The men totaled 2:18:40.20 of running time and averaged 27:44.04 to complete the course.

 

In the women’s five-kilometer race, the Berg’s top-three finishers included sophomore Sophie Goobic (Canton, N.Y./Hugh C. Williams) (20:41.0) in 56th place, junior Bobbi Custer (Woodstock/Triad) (21:23.3) in 86th place and sophomore Jocelyn Staugler (Coldwater) (21:49.2) in 112th place.

 

The women totaled 1:47.80 of running time and averaged 21:35.76 to complete the course.

 

Both teams return to action Saturday, Sept. 17 at the Calvin (Mich.) College Invite in Grand Rapids, Mich. The women’s gun will sound at 11 a.m., while the men will start at 11:45 a.m.
