'Berg Men's & Women's Cross Country Teams Finish 10th, 25th at Oberlin Interregional Rumble

TIFFIN, Ohio—The Heidelberg University men’s cross country team finished in 10th place among 34 teams, while the women placed 25th among 33 teams today in windy and muddy conditions at the Oberlin College Interregional Rumble in Oberlin, Ohio.

Leading the men’s team was senior John Gogle (Sunbury/Big Walnut) in 30th place among 315 runners in a time of 26:38.40. Following Gogle was senior Jordan Karnes (Edgerton), clocking a 26:51.10 to finish in 52nd place. Sophomore Logan Leis (Zanesfield/Benjamin Logan) finished in 55th place with a time of 26:57.40. Sophomore John Avsec (Geneva) posted a time of 27:03.00, landing him in 65th place. Junior Gareth Graver (Enon/Greenon) ran a 27:33.80 to come in 99th place.

For the women, sophomore Sophie Goobic (Canton, N.Y./Hugh C. Williams) led the top five by finishing in 67th place in a field of 282 runners with a time of 24:05.00. Junior Bobbi Custer (Woodstock/Triad) clocked a 24:10.10 to come in 73rd place. Freshman Rachael Brushaber (Harbor Springs, Mich./Harbor Springs) came in 155th place with a 25:50.30 clocking. Rounding out the pack was freshman Julia Darling (Amsterdam/Carrollton) in 193rd place in a time of 26:21.80 and Jocelyn Staugler (Coldwater) in 224th in 27:03.4.

This weekend’s meet was the final tune up for both teams before the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday, Oct. 29, hosted by Ohio Northern University in Ada.
