Men's Cross Country Takes Part in Notre Dame Invite
The No. 28 ranked Heidelberg College men’s cross country team continued its run with the nation’s elite programs at the 2007 Notre Dame Invitational hosted by Notre Dame University in South Bend, Ind. Heidelberg finished 16th in the gold division just missing No. 25 Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 15th. Division II Grand Valley State topped the field followed by Division III No. 1 ranked Calvin College.
Leading all Heidelberg runners was Scott Lasch (Huron, Ohio / Huron) crossed the finish line in 26:19, good enough for 68th. Sophomore Devin Butcher (Bowling Green, Ohio / Bowling) and junior Jarrod Sailing (Caldwell, Ohio / Caldwell) trailed Lasch closely, finishing the 8k course in 26:23 and 26:38, respectively.
Rounding out Heidelberg’s top-five runners was Dan Simpson (Leetonia, Ohio / Leetonia) (26:54), Deven Siesel (Castalia, Ohio / Margaretta) (27:01) and John Distler (Mentor, OhioMentor) / (27:02).
Nationally-ranked Heidelberg, under the guidance of fourth-year head coach Kevin Lucas, will return to the course Oct. 5 at the All-Ohio Championships.
