'Berg Football Gives Back to the Community
Members of the Heidelberg College football team not only ended its summer short due to preseason preparation for the upcoming season, but the summer was condensed by a few extra days for a select group of student-athletes who returned to Tiffin to donate its time to help build a playground for the Seneca County School of Opportunity.
Helping build the playground is just one of the many ways that the football program gives back to a beneficial school in Heidelberg’s local community. In the Spring, Heidelberg suited up with its basketball shoes for a Celebrity Basketball Game. First-year head coach Mike Hallett continuously praises the efforts of the School of Opportunity, along with his student-athletes who are willing to give back to the community. “It is great are players want to get involved with a worthwhile cause, which helps a school that does so many things for Seneca County.”
The School of Opportunity provides individualized early intervention and educational services for eligible infants, children and young adults. It is set up to help maximize each individual’s level of performance in all areas of development, strengthen families to access community supports and make self-determination easier for children and their families so they become better self advocates.
