Grieves and Bauer Receive Academic All-District Nods
Lucas Bauer (Huron, Ohio / Huron) and Matt Grieves (Huron, Ohio / Huron) have been recognized for their work in the classroom, as well as on the field by the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America and ESPN the Magazine. CoSIDA and the magazine have named them Academic All-District IV for football. Bauer is a receiver and Grieves is on the defense line for the Heidelberg College football team.
Bauer, a junior, boasts a 3.72 grade point average as an education major at the Berg. He leads the team with 12 punt returns for 78 yards and is second in receiving with 35 catches for 460 yards thus far this season.
Grieves, a sophomore, has accumulated a 3.45 GPA as a psychology major. He is fourth on the team with 51 tackles and leads the team with six sacks and two blocked kicks for the year. He was also tabbed the Ohio Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 10, 2007. Grieves finished Heidelberg’s first game and win of the season against Oberlin (09/08) with a career-high three sacks, along with a career-best five tackles.
The Student Princes return to action Saturday, November 10 against Muskingum. It is the Berg’s last home game for the year and also Parent’s Day. Kick off is set for 1:30 p.m.
