'Berg Reaches Out to Support MRDD Month

The Heidelberg University football team volunteers with the Seneca County School of Opportunity to help give back to the Tiffin community. Over the course of the last three years the Berg has joined hands to help with Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (MRDD) month. In conjunction with MRDD month the Berg helps support and sponsor a Celebrity Basketball Game that features the School of Opportunity’s Black and Gold Seneca Arrows. The game is scheduled for Thursday March 26, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in Heidelberg’s Seiberling Gymnasium.

Everyone is welcome to come support the Black and Gold Seneca Arrows teams as they mix it up with local celebrities for a night of fans, food, and fun. At 6:00 p.m. a pre-game social will begin with complementary cups of chili. The entertainment for the night will include the New Riegel Pep Band and the Jacket Choir.

MRDD works in partnership with individuals who have mental retardation and developmental disabilities. They encourage them and their families to identify and support the choices they make about their services. The month of March is a designated month that recognizes the role of those with mental retardation and development disabilities in our Tiffin community. The celebrity basketball game gives the Tiffin community the opportunity to recognize those with disabilities and the important roles they play each day in our lives and around the area.
