Head Coach Mike Hallett Releases 2008 Schedule

Second-year head coach Mike Hallett of the Heidelberg College football team has announced the release of its 2008 schedule. The 10-game slate features five contests at the home of Heidelberg football, Frost-Kalnow Stadium.

Starting things off for Heidelberg in 2008 is its lone non-conference game of the year. President Athletic Conference member Westminster College will visit Tiffin, Ohio on Sept. 6. The Titans are a new addition to the slate for the Berg and this season will mark just the fifth time the two institutions met on the gridiron and will be the first since 1971.

Heidelberg will begin its play in the rugged 10-team Ohio Athletic Conference Sept 20 following a bye week. The Berg will close out a two-game home stand with NCAA playoff participant Capital University at 1:30 p.m. September will conclude on the road at University Heights, Ohio with a Sept. 27 contest with John Carroll University.

The month of October will open similar to the season, with two-straight at Frost-Kalnow Stadium. Otterbein College visits Oct. 4 followed by Ohio Northern University Oct. 11. The Otterbein game will mark the lone evening game for Heidelberg. Kick-off is slated for 7:00 p.m.

Two road games will bring October to a close for Heidelberg. Oct. 18 NCAA Division III Runner-Up Mount Union College will host the Berg followed by Baldwin-Wallace College Oct. 25.

Closing out its 2008 slate will be a home contest with Wilmington College Nov. 1 followed by trips to southern Ohio to face Marietta College Nov. 8 and Muskingum College Nov. 15.

Hallett was tabbed the 2007 OAC Coach of the Year and the North Region Coach of the Year by D3football.com after guiding Heidelberg to a 4-6 record overall and 3-6 mark in the OAC. Heidelberg’s 2007 campaign marked the best season at the Berg since 1999. In the end, Heidelberg placed eight players on the All-OAC Team and will return seven of those honorees in 2008. The eight all-league performers was the best representation by the Berg since 1994.
