Rhine River Cup Remains in Westerville

The all-time series between Heidelberg College and Otterbein College began in 1900, but was raised to a new height in 1992 when the two teams played the first collegiate football game on German soil. The Berg and Cardinals played for the Rhine River Cup in Germany and have been battling back and forth for the cup ever since. Despite being held scoreless in the final quarter Otterbein posted a 52-14 victory tonight to hold a tight reign on the Rhine River series.

Following its setback the Berg stands at 1-3 on the year and 0-3 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while Otterbein improves to 4-0 overall and 3-0 against league foes. The Cardinals now own an 11-5-1 lead in the Rhine River Series, having won 10 of the last 11 meetings.

The Berg was outscored 14-0 in the second quarter and faced a 31-7 deficit at the break.
