Bauer Receives Academic All-District Recognition

Senior wide receiver Lucas Bauer (Huron, Ohio / Huron) of the Heidelberg College football team has been named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic College Division All-District IV Football Second Team.
 
Heidelberg is a member of District IV which consists of Division II, III and NAIA schools located in the states of Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee. To be nominated for the all-district team the student-athlete must have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point and in at least their sophomore year at the institution and be a starter or key reserve. The all-district teams are voted on by sports information directors that are members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
 
Bauer is an education major and carries a 3.68 grade point average. He is a four-year letter winner on the gridiron for the Berg and has led the team back among the contenders in the Ohio Athletic Conference over the course of his four years.  Bauer is a two-time Academic All-OAC honoree and All-OAC pick. It is Bauer’s second-straight season on the academic all-district team.
 
In 2008, Bauer has guided Heidelberg to an overall record of 2-6 and a 1-6 mark in the OAC. He is one of the top receiver threats on the team and ranks second on the team with 24 receptions, while standing third in receiving yards (294) and receiving yards per game (36.8). Bauer also serves as the punt returner on special teams, where he has returned 12 punts for 110 yards.
 
Heidelberg closes out the year with two-straight on the road beginning Nov. 8 at Marietta College. The year comes to a close at Muskingum College Nov. 15.
