Two Receive Academic All-OAC
The Heidelberg College football team had two players earn the Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference award. Lucas Bauer (Huron, Ohio / Huron) was named to the first team while Shawn Shriver (Bellevue, Ohio / Western Reserve) was tabbed in honorable mention selection. These student-athletes must have maintained a 3.25 grade point average, be at least a sophomore, and be in their second year of participation to qualify. The recipients were voted on by faculty athletic representatives.
Earning his third Academic All-OAC is Bauer, a senior wide receiver education major with a GPA of 3.68. His performance on the field and in the classroom earned him two other honors this year, the ESPN the Magazine Academic College Division All-District IV Football Second Team and All-OAC Second Team for defense.
Bauer is a four-year letter winner for the Heidelberg football team. He ended his football season second on the team with 35 receptions totaling 497 yards and four touchdowns. As the teams punt returner he gained 130 yards off of 14 returns.
Shriver, a senior safety, is receiving his first Academic All-OAC Honorable Mention honor. He has maintained a 3.76 GPA and is a history major. He played in all 10 games and ranked second on the team with 84 tackles, including 55 solo stops. Shriver also added two interceptions on the year.
